Dave, just throwing this out there, did you ever check the plugs after a test and tune run, to see how if you're rich or lean at wot? I don't know if you'd be allowed to pull a plug on the return road or not.
Yep, heading back towards lean.

The jetting remained the same for the 600's Dave. For the cross ram I run tune # 21 in the Edelbrock book with .080 secondaries. I can't remember off hand what my jetting was for the factory 2 x 4 but I think it was a few calibrations leaner than stock I'll dig out my old log book and confirm.Do you remember if you changed secondary fuel mixture after taking out air valves?
86/95Ronnie Russell posted a good base line jetting for the two four set up but don't remember what thread it was in.
I have wrote down somewhere.
Ronnie was my hero. Thanks Ray that is it now that you said it.
I went up on the secondary's and picked up a little.
So I am a believer in Ronnie's base jetting
Now I am talking with a 409 now you guys with them big boys will need to adjust.
Maybe use Russ's % formula on how much to increase the jetting.
Ronnie once said that he considered me a good buddy.I have rarely felt so honored. He is sorely missed.
Thinking out loud with your first gear in your transmission going with a 4.88 will make that gear almost useless.
