Rule of thumb on whether to go with a mechanical vs electric fuel pump.

I've always been told to go with the mechanical fuel pump up to 450hp then switch to electric with anything above that. I was pondering the fact that a mechanical pump shafts can have roller tips as well for some of the Roller cam set ups which are in general a high performance set up.

I wouldn't trust any fuel pump rod with a roller on it. Electric pump or belt driven pump is the way to go if racing.
My personal thought on a high H/P street car, a factory mechanical pump should be enough for driving on the streets. Dang people treat the roads like a racetrack around here and it's not safe nor the place. :gaah
