Scattershield clearance

Figured I start another thread for this issue.

How have you guys been able to fit an aftermarket scattershield? There's a lot more meat at the top? Really thinking I need to remove some material.

Non SFI shield already. I could not get it to mate with the block due to tunnel/firewall interference. That was just a quick try after I removed the clutch. Maybe lower the ass end of the engine will help? Looked awful tight to me but will spend some more time on it when I determine a direction for the clutch problem.

I pull the same one in & out of my 61& 62 at least once a year

I put one in Tom's 62 no problem and it was a Lakewood. You will have to let the back of the engine down to install it as you would when you are installing the transmission.

I have a lakewood scatershield and block plate in my 62 with no problems

Me 3 in the 65 and a doug nash 5 speed. all fits.
Why the just block protector? what about your feet? Besides you are loosing engagement to the crank. Not sure I do it with a factory bell.

Thanks guys. I'm definitely going with the McLeod. Was just curious about fitment. I'll let the rear of the engine down for better clearance.

Quicktime bell is the slimmest SFI I've seen if you are worried about clearance. Can be tight fit internally on some clutches. Fit my three finger Ram style no problem. Boninfante required some creativity.
