Seat Belt Position

The time has come to install seat belts in the 63 impala. For the life of me, I can't remember which side the latch is attached. My gut says to the outside. And yes Phil, I would have called to ask you, but I'm without a cell phone until sometime tomorrow!

The metal clasp end goes at the door and the buckle mechanism goes in middle of seat. I think that's what your asking.

The carpet goes around all the seat brackets not under the seat brackets.

So you don't bolt through the carpet?

No you don’t bolt through the carpet,
The factory cut slits and or sections of the carpet and folded the carpet around the seat brackets.

All of my cars I install the seats first with the carpet folded back by the doors then cut the silts so they fit around both sides of the seat brackets

I see numerous restored cars bolted to the carpet, not correct.
Not that you could not bolt through the carpet, if you do it’s easy to catch the carpet loops with the bolts for bench seats or any screws through the carpet.
