I have sometimes thought of getting a late Cavalier or colbalt and fitting some 62 sheet metal on it. End up with a good looking crapbox.

Thanks to all that chimed in. I'll be happy just having my non" Bubble Top" bubble top looking Impala.

The roof on a 61 and 62 are exactly the same. 59 and 60 are not the same as 61 and 62. True Bubble tops are 61 and 62 in my book. If 59 and 60 was a Bubble top, the roof would be the same as 61 and 62. They are not! Fact!!
The term “bubbletop” was NEVER used in any GM factory literature. They were officially called Hardtops and/or Sport Coupes. Out in the world, depending on the region you lived in they were called fastbacks or big-window Bel Airs to differentiate them from their Bel Air sedan siblings. The “bubbletop” term started around 1980-ish.
My dad rarely called it a bubble top. It was just the Bel Air. Or if he was talking to someone else it was a 62 Bel Air Sport Coupe!

At Bowling Green 2 years ago, I was asked to be in the tower so if the announcers had any questions, they could ask me.
When the first 62 Belair pulled up to race.....the guy announced it he called it a "Bubbleback"!!!!!!!! WTF!!!! I didn't correct him that time but the second time he used that term.....I did!!!!!!!!

Kinda like when he was talking about the Fatted Californian. How that came from Fatted Calf was pretty good.
