Spacer ?

I noticed when installing the spacers that there was a bit of a dam between the spacer and the intake. The spacer is an open type. The spacer is bigger than the intake opening with a little aluminum hanging out beyond the spacer. Been trying to figure out the air/fuel path past this portion of the intake. I can see where this may cause some swirl and tumble. Do you think this will be a problem. Should this be a smooth transition? The spacer matches the carb gasket perfectly.

I should have slept on this before I asked the question! Although I would have prefered to have the spacer match the opening for a smooth transition I was thinking that the air has to make it's way around the center divider and between the two holes on the one side that divide the bores. I guess a little aluminum hanging in the wind should not hurt! Thanks for your input Models, I do agree with you though.
