Steering shaft question

Finally I am reinstalling pieces on my 63 Impala but....... When I went to put the steering shaft in I discovered that I may have misplaced the lower piece (that hooks to the rag joint) and the upper cuplink (I think that is the name). I have searched on E-Bay and the one shaft that is listed is only 24 1/2 long and mine measures 36 1/4". I am beginning to think that the steering column had been replaced or something. The car was supposed to be all original.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I haven't measured my steering shaft or looked at the car lately, but the 24 1/2" measurement sounds about right. 36 1/2" sounds way too long.

I'm referring to the lower shaft that connects to the box.

The factory lower steering shaft (that connects to the steering box, with the fiber connection is actually 19 & 1/8 inches long
The upper cup that attaches to the lower steering column is 3 1/2 inches long. For 61-64 I think they are all the same length.

here is a restored 63 Impala underhood picture. the A arm covers part of the shaft but you can see both ends.
