my transmission from shifting??????!!!!!!!!
Took a ride around the block when we brought this home 2 years ago. Would not run without the shifter engaged and then start the engine . PIA!!!! We finally got around to taking some parts off today and this is what we found!!!!!
Guess there was too much speed shifting in trying it out!!!!
Need to fix the choke and then should be ready to go!!!!!

I used to buy z-bars in bulk from the dealer for my 62 back in 69 and 70 until my Dad welded a triangular gusset to each arm. Problem fixed for good. Thanks, Dad!

Mine looked just like that years ago. I squeezed mine back together, and welded it up. Still on the car.

You need to realize these cars are for show and you shouldn't be beating on them like a rented mule.

The same thing has happened to me on two different cars,the triangular gusset is the way i fixed the problem and had no more troubles with the z-bar.

The "Powerglide" may have been OK, if the bean counters, didn't take (D2) third gear away.
