After numerous delays this puppy is getting back online. Trunk is basically done with fuel cell, battery relocate and fuel pump completed. Battles = replacing cheap fuel sender with one from gauge mfg to work, routing positive cable to engine with clamps ensuring no rubbing or possible shorting out sharp edges.

Drive shaft - mongo version. So an older aluminum drive shaft is measured and taken to drive-line shop. Told them we wanted Ford 8.8 for rear and Chevy front yoke. One day later they say all done come and get. I gag at price as they of course replaced the entire shaft during process. Get it back to shop and a damn Ford yoke is on the front - take it back and remind them I can count spines. Counter people play dumb. Drive-line owner hears the barking at the counter and asks what's up? Explanation given - counter guy still playing dumb about the Ford yoke. Owner takes drive shaft in back of shop - loud yelling heard - 20 minutes later proper Chevy yoke now on shaft. Photo shows Ford yoke. Once drive shaft installed the tranny is cranked up and secured with tranny support to get 3 degrees on motor angle.IMG_1664.JPGIMG_1670.JPG

New wiper motor mounted. Roughed in water temp sensor (just behind oil tube) with clamps running along valve cover. Mounted fan sensor in front intake manifold port (small black critter) and starting the plumbing for hydraulics (rack and pinion, power steering pump, etc.). Will have lines going through Chassisworks inner fenders with bulkhead connections. Yup that is a front line lock hanging to the right which will go on inner fender as well. We had to obtain special banjo fitting to help clearance with valve cover, grrr.

Power steering connection from hell. After numerous phone calls asking what friggin thread count did the power steering pump people use and then finding a clearance issue again we triumphed finally putting in a banjo fitting. Had to use an extra copper crushable to get fluid holes to line up.

IT'S ALIVE!

After long delays the 409 breathed it's first breath in over 30 years.

Unbelievably it torched off on the first attempt with no pain at all!

Ran it for about 20 seconds and it sounded angry and ready. No radiator used on initial start just to make sure major components would play nice. Now proceeding with high confidence. The earlier photo of the two copper washers on the power steering pump was corrected.

Inner fenders finally back from powder coating. Core support on (will be blue), sorting out upper radiator hose (fabricating elbows, etc.). All hydraulic lines completed and leak free. Now working on hydraulic assisted racing clutch and wiring for front brake lock switch and head dump switch in interior. Steering wheel ugh and will be replaced.

Noticed paint was looking odd - determined lacquer primer had been used after some turd knocked a big chip off. Had to make the decision to strip it all off. At same time improved areas found needing repair. Gads. $$$ killer but she is now looking sweet. Almost ready to roll after 4 years. New paint photos have some dust on them but the lines are sweet.
