We had "The old Girl" out this weekend....put 50+miles on it. These cars are sure special...they were "back in the Day" and still are now!

She sure screams when I push the pedal to the metal with 4:56 gears.

I had to remove the 4.88s
To much RPM for the stock rod stock piston combo I have been running.
Now the 4.56 works pretty good for the track.
Not sure I would want them for the road unless I had O/D.

4.56 is a great gear for the street. Quick off the line, lots of fun! I have 4.30s in my car now and wouldn't change it for anything

I have 4:56 with 28" tires. 700r4 makes it all possible.

WOW. 4:56 gears for the street. Sounds like a lot of fun. I had them in my '63 Impala when I was a kid. The only thing I remember is how much gas I went through in one week. I didn't keep them too long. My '62 came with a 3:70 posi. Coupled with the T-10, I didn't like them at all. Replaced them with a 3:36 which I think is ideal; at least for me. Pretty spunky on the street and on the interstate, the engine RPM doesn't get crazy. If I had a 5th or 6th gear manual overdrive, I wouldn't mind trying those 4:56's again, Carmine.
