I've heard of three quarter inch square tubing 12 to 14 gauge thickness works well, but haven't seen any plans yet!

Are you planning to replace the wood with steel tube? I need to do that with my 33 project and have found very little examples of how others have done it.
I bought me a slip roller and a tubing Bender just for forming the metal tubing, Square Tubing that is. I'm going to need some lower patch repair panels too. Several places to get them though. I think I have the equipment to makethem now after spending1,800.00 ....

Here's a couple of pics of my used equipment, need to clean the cosmoline off of it.. I can't see that the 3 in 1 tool and the plasma cutter have ever been used! The bead roller from Eastwood and the English wheel and anvils from Jegs will be here Wednesday. Then let the games begin!

I have been working on my 54 Chevy pickup the last few months trying to get it on the road, but I have been buying parts for the 31 build. I bought a set of Bob Walla aluminum heads, and aluminum 2- 4 intake custom made and a 9.3 Pontiac olds rear end with strange axles and spool and 410 gear. Found a 1930 Grill but I haven't been able to find a 31 yet.
So until I get to 54 on the road I'm still buying parts for the 31 and we'll make some updates again soon, thanks for your interest and burn a tire!

Phil, here's a pic of me and my grandson Beckett! He's almost three, my son Caleb got us matching shirts for Easter. We went for a ride in the 68 Big Block Nova with a Super T-10 4speed.
It'll be Beckett's Nova someday:D

I see that you (Michelangelo) are from Missouri. Whereabouts?

Grew up in MO & went to school @ MU after the military. Presently living in GA. I love MO but I actually moved to the SE because I wanted to race (seriously). Ran Pro Mods out of my own pocket for 20+ years. Actually almost broke even for a year or two of it. LOL
I'm a motorhead - and have always thought the 348/409/427 "W" engines are just neat as heck & truly unique.

I remember when we used to go to St Louis which is now Gateway and watch the pro mods and the top Sportsman with blown injected alcohol motors with a stock wheelbase vega's, now that was a handful and fantastic to watch. Got any pics of your old cars? I don't know if you know Norm Wilding but he had a promod and a funny car and used to race NHRA. He has a shop in Columbia and is building bikes now.

Thats sweet! My 31 Chevy 5 Window Coupe build is a little slow right now due to the fact that I haven't finished my 54 Chevy pickup. I think I'm going to start a thread for my Nova though. James ordered me to start a thread for my 68 Chevy ll Nova as soon as I got done cruising today. Hopefully if the videos of my drive today ever get loaded to my YouTube channel I'll post them with the thread and some pictures...
I am excited about the 31 and I keep buying parts ( probably why I haven't got the truck finished yet:hide ... but if you don't have Parts it's kind of hard to build a hot rod.
Very nice looking 32! I see you're from Flint Michigan, post some more pictures of your hot rod and you can use this build thread I need some inspiration. not for the 31 but to get the darn truck done LOL :dance:jive:dance3 Ok the 31 too!

Is that a camshaft between the front rails over the springs?

Nice, looks like a Chevy pickup trucks front axle, and I guess Don noticed that you had single exhaust on it too. :impatient I was wondering how it rides and handles with the factory parallel Springs? Everybody's telling me to put the Ford transverse spring in it'll handle better. I don't know because I've never had either one. Looks sweet how does it drive? And I was pretty sure that I was seeing a camshaft up front between the frame rails. I bet your friend gets a poke in the eye every time he sees your Hot Rod:poke:confused the only safe way to prevent that from happening without using the zinc additive is a roller cam $$$. Or lifter bore bronz liners..$$$
