Tri Powers inlet, couple of NB questions..

So I’ve removed my tripower inlet to drill and tap for vacuum takeoff( aren’t they heavy!!) and noticed two things. One should this vent be shut like this, it’s just under the pcv outlet on the back of the manifold, and there’s a reasonable amount of rust in the runners by the heads. What’s the best way to clean this?

La Hot Rods has given good advice.

After you do the drill/tap thing, get those rivets out, the pan off and clean the beejeezus out of it. If you have a local machine shop that can bake and peen it clean, that's a good way to go. I don't like using the rivets....I drill and tap and use a button head screw with Loctite.
