Does anybody know what valve covers would be correct for a 400hp 65 409? I know chrome and would assume drippers but what do I look for in wire loom holders and such?
Pretty sure that was a hydraulic cam. No need for the drippers, however I could be wrong. The real experts are lurking in the wings and will swoop down any time with an answer.
Pat used the word "provide" which I think means the 2x4s were provided in late 61 as a service package, but not listed on any option sheet til 62,63,&64.
You got it!!
In late 61 model production, May/June Chevrolet actually built 10 COPO 409/409 engines. None went in cars, but rather were send to the big drag racers of the day, Don Nicholson, etc. for the O/SS class. NHRA printed a supplement sheet for their rules to allow the new engines and the individual parts.
Great job!!!
So did those late 61 motors have the new 690 heads on them instead of the 586 and would the casting number of the block be for a 61 or the 62 run of 409' s?
