Ok, I’ve been on the sideline, but it’s time.

Jack up the back of the car.

Put your safety jack stands under the frame.

Remove the 4 nuts that hold the axle in.

Pull the entire axle with the wheel attached out of the axle housing.

Now you can “hammer” to your hearts content.:wacko

I have dislodged several wheel's on rear of trucks in a dealership that were corroded on, very tight . Just keep soaking around lug studs and I used a heavy sledge hammer and hit tire from backside while rotating tire all the way around. The heavy sledge will actually bounce the wheel and by hitting tire will not be damaging the wheel . It will take several blows but it will brake loose. Removing axle won't give you any leverage ,nothing to hold axle solid to remove wheel.

So he will have to remove brake line and rebleed that wheel cylinder emergency cable ,how when you can't get inside drum and then have grease run out of axle x2. I never had to do all of that. Looks like extra work to me Pat!!!:D

The backing plate stays in place, just the axle and the brake drum come out. Do not have to mess with emergency brake stuff or hydraulic lines.
