Will a 11" clutch fit a 64 409 bellhousing? Help!

I'm replacing clutch and flywheel and up sizing to an 11 inch clutch. I have installed the new flywheel and clutch mounted under a stock 1964 # 3843942 bellhousing behind a 409. . It looks like it fits. The bellhousing fits over the clutch assembly but since the bottom is enclosed, it is hard to tell if it is touching the inside.

Short of starting it up, I can't tell if the is sufficient clearance. I’m starting to have second thoughts. The motor and trans are out of the car and I hate to put it back in only to hear it banging or worse, break up the bellhousing at start up.

Anybody have any experience or can put my mind at ease before I go any farther?

Thanks, Mick

11" clutch

I have a Hays 11 inch flywheel and clutch assembly in my stock 1959 bellhousing attached to my 409 and no problems.

Thanks W Head: The 59 and 64 bellhousing are different in appearance. May be the same dimensions inside.

I'll be holding my breath at start up..
