Description:

I ran a direct comparison of the "Rich Rejeski" designed CRW Aluminum water pump (with a stamped impeller), against a bone-stock GM 409 pump with a cast-iron impeller. Testing was done on a 409/446 stroker, on 8-5-06. Both pumps ran the same 6 1/2" billet pulley, with all ambient parameters equal (see thread postings). The CRW-Rejeski pump ran HOTTER, by 5 degrees, than did the stock GM 409 pump. Because of both the high cost of a CRW-Rejeski pump, not-to-mention that the engine ran hotter with it, I would not recommend the CRW-Rejeski pump over a properly rebuilt GM cast iron pump, with a cast, curved vane impeller. If you just have got to have an aluminum 409 water pump..., then... you can expect your car to likely run a tad hotter -- NOT cooler.
P.S. This pump was pattern-designed by a very talented man, Rich Rejeski, and we should all be appreciative of his efforts. I will be trying to contact Rich, to try to work out solutions and improvements on the design and his choice of impeller. All I've done here is to honestly report my findings, and mean no insult to Rich, in any way. Hopefully, an even better CRW-Rejeski water pump will result from all this.
