Is a 504 just a big block truck engine?

Never heard of a 504.... Do you mean 502? If so the 502 was only offered only through GM Performance and was never install in a production vehicle.

Probably got the # mixed up. A guy in town was telling me he had a 50--something crate engine that was in a motor home. said they are excellent in auto appilacation.??????? wants $500.00. also said they are 8,000.00 new??

I wish I could find a deal like that........ I'd love to have a 502 block, but they have gone up to about $1800 bare.
