VIN and Trim tag different

I believe all cowl tags in the early 60's list the car as being an 8 cylinder hence the 12, even if it was an original 6 cylinder car. Just one of those things.:dunno

Mac is right. From my reading I learned that part of the car was assembled by Fisher Body Division, the rest by Chevrolet! So the assembly line had certain odd "things". One of these is that all Chevrolets had 8 cylinder ID's on the trim tag from Fisher, then Chevrolet decided what engine really went in. Also in the case of 62's ,63's etc, you can't tell if the car had a 283, 327, or 409 originally.
