    Conflicting 348 suffix code-need help

Marketing Now you know why I started asking this question, I am new to the 348 scene, shopping for one for my Impala, and beating my head against a wall trying to figure out what is original or not. Add to all the Super, Special, Turbo lanquage the Turbo-Fire, Super Turbo-Fire, Ramjet, Ramjet...

    Conflicting 348 suffix code-need help

Codes This is what I have, there are no HP ratings associated with the codes, just to the names of the engines. It is from the "1959 Chevrolet Passenger Car Specifications" ordered from GM, often called the resotration guide, written by the "Engineering Product Information Department" in 1959...

    Balancing...

balance Is there any aftermarket companies making an internally balanced crank for the Olds 350? I know there are some doing that for the sbc400. Only experience I have with the heavy metal is a friend who converted a 400 to internal for racing, BIG $$$, and the engine blew a few races later...

    Conflicting 348 suffix code-need help

Not a Member yet Well guys, thanks for all the help on the GB engine, but I didn't get it. Researched it well, had the upper limit on my spending set, bid that amount and got outbid by $50!!! O-well that just means it wasn't the right one for me. Still can't reconcile that Nov 13 date to...

    Conflicting 348 suffix code-need help

348 Gb What I got out of the responses is that the GB is 280hp with the Powerglide, not 315hp. It was the only 3x2 to be offered with a PG. Bobs409 - It would be nice to take the information you have for performance (hp/torque/compression) and the information you have on suffix codes...

    Conflicting 348 suffix code-need help

Manual Transmission I do have a 1959 3sp w/OD along with all the nessary hardware for the car, would that be one of the transmissions that could go behind a 335hp version? Would it be a correct transmission for behind a FE block (another lead, block only)? Would a 335hp version ever have...

    Conflicting 348 suffix code-need help

The Engine that started the confusion: OK, since it looks like there was no 315HP engine with a powerglide in 1959, I'll let the cat out of the bag for why I started asking this question. I have a 1959 Impala 283 that has been begging me to put a triple deuce in her! Of course when I finally...

    Just putting it out here

8 Track!!! No wonder I didn't know what it was!!! If its not an XM, MP3, CD, or DVD player, we young'ns can't figure it out. The best under dash item I have seen so far is a 60 Impala here in NorCal with a record player.

    Just putting it out here

Congrats on the buy, these four doors were junked for so long they are really starting to make a comeback. I was looking at the pic of the dash, what is that mounted to the left of the A/C controls under the dash?
