I'M IN THE PROCESS OF PUTTING TOGETHER A PRETTY STOUT STREE/STRIP 409 STROKER. WILL BE 482 CUBIC INCH, EDELBROCK HEADS, BIG SOLID BILLET COMP. ROLLER CAM. WHICH ROCKER TO RUN? WOULD LIKE THE LIFT OF A 1.8, BUT IS THERE ANY PROBLEMS WITH RUNNING THIS AS OPPOSED TO A 1.7? WHAT ARE YOU ALL...

    valve cover spacers

A long time ago I saw some valve cover spacers on ebay. They were 3/4" if I remember correctly, so you could run stock covers with high lift and roller rockers. I haven't seen any lately. Does anyone know where you can get these?

    GM dead?

Amen to that. Everyone brings up valid points. But what people don't seem to realize is the wages they always quote are not what a worker makes. That includes retiree cost as everything. The hourly wages are competitive. I know many people who work in the auto industry, and they have been...

To 4 bolt cap or not

Jim I think the reason bds recommends tighter lobe centers is heat. The wider lobe seperation will make more power with a blower but it will build more heat. In a street application they will tighten it up. It may lose some top end power but the motor will run cooler and not detonate. On the...

To 4 bolt cap or not

mains I was at my machinist today. My block has a bad rear main, which by the way is supposed to be available from pro-gram mid nov. Thats probably what i'll have to do unless I luck out and stumble onto one that is in good enough shape to use. Any way he was talking about mains and said...

    Blown 409

I just dropped off my truck block at the machine shop. After much debate on which way to go ,I think I am going the 671 route if the block checks out ok. Dyers does offer a blower intake listed only for small ports. I believe it is a modified offy. They are a little cheaper than bds and have...
