I have tried to hunt down prior owners of the car when it was actually running in the 80s...no dice...they are gone. I have two more ways left to truly identify this car...
1. there may be a build sheet in the door panels or inside rear arm rest panel (I didn't look there yet)

Stayed up late and did a lot more research. In the absence of a build sheet it doesn't look good even though I'm 90 percent sure I see "409" shadows on the fenders where the emblems were.
1. There is no ballast resister or signs of one being mounted there on the firewall

didn't know that?....I put the stock 1965-300 horse intake and carter AFB on the motor....block has the nice camel hump heads....be great to plug and play
Top and bottom code say mist blue....found an old reciept for side molding shop...think they did the vinyl top too. Thanks for the trans info. Might start searching for a 409 since I already have the powerglide..

Just took possession of my first true SS impala. It has been sitting garaged without drive train in northern California since the 80s ....not a flake of rust so I couldn't pass it up. They guy I bought it from also had a perfect running 327 w/powerglide on the side....both date code...
