    (312) 63 Impala

You can buy a new, warrantied crate motor from a Chevy dealer usually for less than you can rebuild or patch one together. Been there!

    MYSTERY MOTOR & Z-11

Those Mystry Motor Exh. Manifolds have got to be worth a dollar or two! I was at the 63 Firecracker 400 when it was on the 4th. All 5 Chevies were on the 1st 5 spots. Didn't last long though. As I remember, Junior won the World 600 running the engine that he had run the previous week because...

Exhaust manifold gaskets - yes or no?

    best aluminum head?

RE;McQuillen manifold I have the one that Rich cast & Tony did the finish on several years ago. No, it won't come close to fitting under a stock hood but will under a legal NMCA bubble. Power, my .060 over race engine went from 11.1 to 10.8 with no other mods.

    409 stroker build

That's a nice description!!, Considering that that engine started off as a Block assm. & has never been in anything but a race car! Yep! the pan & oil pump are good. I'm trying to figger out what parts to gather up & use next. I'm thinkinof using a 4.25" Ohio crank that I have & what rods will...

    Another one runs

The headers are Stahl. The back tube gives it away. Anyone that has had them can tell as soon as it fires.

    409 stroker build

Anyone here got a preference for rods with a 4.25" crank(not length, Ross says 6.385 is max with ring spacers), just brand. Mostly thinking about the big end & block.

    409 crack repair

At the risk of beating a dead horse. Welding & stiching both work. I have welded 3-4 blocks with the Nickel rod & a buzz box. Grind a V, run about a 1/2" bead, peen thoroughly & weld another. No leaks & if you have some, you can reweld. The peening is the important part. These were all outside...

Date codes on selected heads: An opportunity to contribute

Tom, I'm a little(?) slow. I was reading some old posts. I have a set of 690 heads K 6 61 that are not pinned & have screw in studs. Didn't check the pushrod size. I can send a pic if you'd like. No, there is NO evidence of them having ever been pinned. I had asked both Tony & Donnie Shaffer...
