Fawn Memory- 61 Impala bubble top with a stroked 409

Yeah…. Definitely not something I want to deal with right now, but it’s an opportunity to do some things that I have thought about doing for a while, but was very low on the list just because, well why take apart a good running engine to port and polish the heads and repaint the block? Why pull...

I suppose this will also be good motivation for me to get up to Dads and start going through his storage and start selling all the swap meet stuff he was hoarding. I know he’s got a lot of 61 trim pieces, side skirts, an extra louvered hood in primer, hub caps, spinners

Well it wasn’t a wash out, just cool and windy. Still managed to bring the suck. Soooo…. Carnage report. First run was a hot mess, the car died as soon as the light turned green and hit the gas, was still able to spin tires halfway down the track . At least the engine was running good. Really...

Ah, yeah…. I realized last night that at some point, I’m assuming when Dad had the grill chromed, someone removed all the rivets holding the three pieces together, now the “grill” section is only attached to the outer ring. I have to make a hardware trip for stainless screws, since I’m missing...

Not uncommon for this in reflection style LED headlights, the upper half is your low beams, the lower half of high beams. Gives a very clean and defined cut off to keep from blinding oncoming cars, and these things are BRIGHT. I thought the Hella lights were bright at 100w, but compared to the...

Well, looks like the Cars and Coffee may be a wash out, high of 55° and 80% chance of rain. Spent the weekend detailing the interior, washed it and hit it with the clay bar, going to wax it tomorrow. Saw that the passenger side low beam bulb exploded, the H4 housing appears to have gotten...

Fawn Memory- 61 Impala bubble top with a stroked 409

Finally starting to go back together. Unfortunately I have to pull the seat bottom back out so I can reinstall the seat belts, but that's not too difficult Going to have to finish out the top of the trans tunnel between the front and back seats with the Dynapad, the carpet is a bit loose, but...

Fawn Memory- 61 Impala bubble top with a stroked 409

New carpet and Dynapad showed up, so once it warms up, or if I can get time to get the shop insulated a little beter, I'll get started on pulling carpet and POR15 the rest of the floorpan. I'll likely hit whatever interior metal I come across as well. I know they never painted things like the...

    348 vs. 327; or maybe a 409

I'm going to get a angry mob for this but, if you aren't going to do a 409, do a cheap 4.8/5.3 LS swap(hell the 5.3L is 326.1 ci, you can round up). It will make more power, more reliably, and get beter mileage if you are looking to make a driver out of it. Lokar has the LS Classic line that...

    Help. Electrical system/lights pulsing?

Well the new regulator fixed the problem, my voltmeter is definitely off, reads 11V with the engine off and now a steady 13V at speed, and the pulsing in the lights have been all but eliminated. Just my luck. 3 alternators in a row(2 new right out of the box) had bad voltage regulators.

    Help. Electrical system/lights pulsing?

Wanted to try and use the P/S pump bolts, easier to hide, but I guess it would be redundant in light of the below comment lol. It must be, my battery to block, and block to body ground wires bolt to the aluminum heads. For some reason I had it in my head non-ferrous metals weren’t great...

    Help. Electrical system/lights pulsing?

I'd love to, but with aluminum heads, intake, water pump, and the long tube headers, it's had to get to cast iron without it being on my lift, which is 45 mins away at my Dads shop. I'll be taking it up this weekend to put it in storage, and plan to work on that this winter when I rip out the...

    Help. Electrical system/lights pulsing?

I just replaced the regulator, debated doing a full rebuild but this this has been nickle and diming me to death lately, so it'll have to wait(wifes been getting annoyed since we're going on a cruise next weekend). I'll see if it made a difference in a few hours. Still going to use the ground...

    Help. Electrical system/lights pulsing?

Battery tested 12.6V- good needs charged. Tested the alternator on the vehicle, started about 12.3V no load, then it had me turn on the lights, dropped to 11.7-11.4V, showed bad regulator, been doing this from day one out of the box .

    Help. Electrical system/lights pulsing?

I have one right around the corner from my house that I used to work at. It’s nice because I can still go in and look up/pull my own parts.
