    348/409 Engine builders in AZ

Can anyone recommend an engine rebuilder or someone who has experience building 348/409 engines in Arizona (Phoenix Valley area preferred), I'd be much appreciative. I'd like to consult with them. Marty

Valve Cover gaskets for use with Cast Edelbrock Valve Covers

I would hope their expensive gaskets would work with their valve covers, thats why I asked before spending the money

Valve Cover gaskets for use with Cast Edelbrock Valve Covers

Thanks. Problem with my gaskets is the holes in the bottom do not line up well enough because of the thicker flange edge of the valve cover.

Valve Cover gaskets for use with Cast Edelbrock Valve Covers

I see Edelbrock sells a valve cover gasket part number 7582. Can anyone confirm that they fit the Edelbrock 4140 valve cover correctly? Thanks again, Marty

Valve Cover gaskets for use with Cast Edelbrock Valve Covers

The cork gaskets in my "BEST" overhaul kit do not fit my cast aluminum valve covers for beans. Obviously made for the sheet metal covers. Anyone have any recommendations for valve cover gaskets that you used with the Edelbrock valve covers? Thanks! Marty

    Oil slinger

I just finished assembling my engine. (I did not disassemble it, it came to me apart) I do remember seeing the slinger in the parts box. Today I installed the timing chain cover and the oil pan. I installed the harmonic balancer and had an o-crap moment. I realized I forgot the slinger. I...

    New Starter

Ancient thread but I looked up an ACDELCO Starter on Summit for a 348/409 "W" Big Block and came up with this: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ado-336-1870 Looks correct, diagonal pattern and should use the ATP-Z111 168 tooth Flex plate correct? Just need to source correct starter bolts? Marty

348 Assembly Advice and Engine Bolts

I did and they hooked me up with the bolts I needed. In fact I emailed them and Bruce sent me a quote with the parts I needed, we clarified a couple things and called in with my C.C info. All good Don, Marty

348 Assembly Advice and Engine Bolts

Using Sealed Power Rings and bearings. Using cast rings since engine just got a hone and it's a very mild build. Marty

348 Assembly Advice and Engine Bolts

Does anyone know what size the rear cam plug is? Show Cars says it comes in the expansion plug set but I didn't need the set. I have brass freeze plugs. Apparently they don't sell it seperately. Thanks in advance, Marty

348 Assembly Advice and Engine Bolts

Thanks, Where can I find a service/assembly manual for the 348? Right now I plan on using a Comp Cams mild flat tappet cam and their lifters. Lifters are 5 years old new in the box. Comp tells me there were no problems with their lifters back then. I'm not totally opposed to the hydraulic roller...

348 Assembly Advice and Engine Bolts

Couldn't agree more! There just some specific bolts I want to get right, head bolts, cam timing chain bolts, oil pump bolt etc. The rest are hardware store variety. I was planning on ordering studs and nuts with flats for the oil pan and perhaps the timing chain cover. Thank you for the...
