Thanks for the comments guys.
Need to finsh a customers car, then I will start on this one.
Two years ain't a lot of time to do a complete build of this scale.
Here it is after about 10 hours of work. I don't know if it will polish because of the different aluminum of the welding rod and patches but I can always have it chromed, I guess.
I am sure the guy I bought if from had no idea that it was damage, he bought it painted, but it confirms the old...
Here it is out of the box.
I took it to the blast cabinet and discovered a nasty secret. I forgot to take a pic of it before I started working on it because I was mad. The whole corner was crushed but filled with epoxy. I cut the top out and welded in a new piece.
Clean, clean, clean, heat...
Well, I found a cross ram I could afford. It was painted and I planned on polishing it so I figured someone else had ground the casting and I would not have it on my concience.
Turns out it was painted for a different reason!!!!!
I am really set on 690s so the edelbrocks will have to go on a different engine. Even though it is a hot rod, everything will have to be period correct. Thanks for the replys.
It has notches in cowl for hood and double bead is interupted on cowl by screw holes. Might be at the change over time, either way, I think I will build it as a 34, wait maybe a 33! Ha Ha
Looks like you were right. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-409ci-High-Performance-Heads-3814690-690-/260855457874?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cbc326852 I did not bid because the seller could not tell me anything about them and would not give any guarantee...
What do you guys think bare 690 heads are worth. Are they prone to cracking?
I have some new edelbrock heads but don't like how they look for the motor I am building. Just curious what I should expect to pay.
Also, who is the best for porting and polishing these heads.
Looking for a few...
I have three sisters that live in Emporia, but I hail from Walter P Chrysler's boy hood home....Ellis

Thanks for the welcome guys!!
It was a pieced together car, none of the chassis is original to this body, none of the body parts(doors, decklid, fenders, floorpan....
It is sitting on a chassis from a 34 five window that is getting a 331 hemi and a four speed! (customers car)
