Interesting! How do folks find these treasures? What other equipment did the 348/409 power? For instance I know that old Chrysler hemi's can be found in aircraft tugs/tractors, irrigation pumps, warning sirens, generators and other industrial equipment.
Is the industrial 348/409 marked...
Nice! Appreciate the replies. And I concur that block condition and cost are important.
So, I've discovered that the 64/65 Chevy c60 truck came with a lot of different motors including the 348 and 409.
Which block would be the better block? Like the old Ford 59AB Flathead with the relieved block, they were sought after.
And which Chevy trucks came equipped with the 409?
I'm just curious if there's a difference between the truck and car 409 other than the casting number? Most times it's a difference in deck height. is it the same with a 409 and possibly the 348?
I searched the forum a bit but couldn't find any post describing differences.
Thanks.
Merry Christmas and Happy New year! Thanks for allowing me to join the forum.
Love to find a 60, 61 or 62 Impala, Belair or Biscayne. As you can see I'm not particular!
Love to find a decent 348 or 409, too!
Ah well, maybe one day!
