After reading Carl’s post about the engine not being original but the vin and date code stamp on the pad looking to be correct.What does that say about the vin tag that matches the engine stamp?

I would be leary of both the trim tag and vin both look like they have been off

Here is why.Missing the 409 shroud(63’s should have slots on the bottom holes),and missing the return fuel line.Notice the difference in the shrouds,altenator pulley,and glass fuel bowl.The 409 shrouds had less ribs and there should be a second chromed return line on the filter that runs behind...

I’d keep the Camaro and buy the 409 but that’s why my wife doesn’t talk to me much anymore :dunno2

A few more things wrong rad cap,master cylinder,exhaust manifolds,and it looks like there was a patch cut in the trunk where the box brace is.These were prime rust areas.The 409/flag gap might be the angle,but these are my original fenders from a original 409 car. But as Paul said,it looks...

It looks like mine is zinc,I don’t know for sure about the rods,but I believe they were bare steel.Mine has the rubber boot and there is grease on the spring.

Have you checked the heads casting numbers(should be 690’s) and date codes,how about the carbs?Typically they should be 2-6 weeks before the assembly date of the car.It is tough to make out from your photo but it looks like 3d so you would be looking for date codes before the 4th week of March...

Finished up the door locks,and handles,door panels,seats,belts,sill plates,and floor mats

Thanks Brian,I am very happy with how it turned out.Here is what I know,the tongue that locks the jacking mechanism to the bumper had Chevrolet 1964 stamped on it.Where the earlier ones did not.I am not sure about any other changes.Mr Reed or Paul would be the one to answer that question.

Now if I can just find the damn hold down handle Before I media blasted I noticed the arm had a touch of gold almost like gold cad.I sprayed Eastwood gold cad first and then a light coat of clear zinc.You can see just a hint of gold on it
