I came across this tranny and I'm not exactly sure what it is, but I know someone on here knows. It's a 3 speed that came out of a '64 Impala with a 283. The unique thing is that it has an overdrive on the back of it. There is a cable activated lever on the OD as well as an electrical...
I hear a lot of people saying free revving on decell is bad... but what happens when you take off from a red light, wind it up to 6500 in 1st gear, then throw the clutch in to shift.... Doesn't it free rev decell until you hit second and get back on the gas again? My 283 sees a lot of free...
Here's my 283
It's in my '55 Willys CJ5
My circle track engine builder put it together for me... Man does it run nice. It's a great combination of power and reliability. It commutes 80+ miles a day and can blow a lot of stuff off the road :)
Yes they are hydraulic lifters. The pushrods aren't hitting the head. The slot on these rockers is huge, plenty of room for the cam I'm running. No, these aren't self aligning rockers. I don't see how much difference it could make since my 1.5's weren't self aligning either. I actually put...
Hrmmmm...You may be right with that. I wish I rod a pushrod length checker. Maybe I'll pick one up. But I don't really see how longer rods would help a whole lot....They're currently ticking, but if I tighten them more, the valves don't close all the way. It's not like I'm out of stud or...
I got a free set :brow of 1.6 rockers for my 283. They were all brand new in the boxes. I put them on, adjusted them to zero lash, and started the engine. LOTS of clacking. I figured maybe they were just a little loose so I started snugging them down a little at a time. It got much...
Hrmmm...Sounds like we found a new one. Mine likely came out of a 348...or at least I think it did :? I'm sure someone knows what it's for. Maybe Bob could put this number on the list also
1110943 Delco Remy 9 J 10. I checked the page we have here, but that number isn't on there. The closest was 1110948, but mine definately ends in a 3.
This is EXACTLY what it looks like. That's the picture from the distributor page here. Anyone know what mine could be?
I dropped my 348 stuff off to have it cleaned and magnafluxed. Turns out that the block has 3 cracks in it. One in each side near the deck in the water jacket (the common ones) and one in a main bearing web. It's in the #4 web through the oil hole parallel with the line bore. My builder said...
You couldn't be any more correct with that statetment. I'm a senior Industrial Technology (Industrial Engineering) student and I'm shocked at how mechanically "dumb" 98% of the students in the engineering department are. I think I'm going to print out that list and give it to a few of my...
