i have a 348 ag/industrial engine. block casting #3857655. front pad stamped TO3233AM. has an X on front of block. i was told that this engine block is stronger than most other W blocks with thicker webbing ect. also was told it could be bored to 409 bore.. and that it is wanted by the serious...

somewhere i read that if there is a X cast into the front of the block that it is a 409. is that true or false

the casting # 3857655 is strange and dose not appear in any of the books or web sites. the # 3857656 dose appear on the books and sites. but that is why i took a picture of the casting #. as you can see it ends in 655. nobody seems to know. also i should note it has an X on the front of the block.

not real sure yet what i am going to do with the engine, always wanted a w block. i think i am going to make a 55 gasser
