'61 3x2 Manifold on Edelbrock Head

Have had an inquiry from a club member if his '61 TriPower manifold would fit the W series Edelbrock head. My thought is no, the head has the HP large ports meant for the HP 409s. Is this correct or is there a way of fitting the 3x2 intake.

    348 for 59 Nomad wagon

Well done Gav. I see that cam is the stock spec. From experience with Marks engine, these engines can use a lot of cam. As far as the original heads go, what's wrong, are they cracked?

    '61 348 3x2BC Vacuum Secondaries Tank

Regardless of how they shipped the assembly, it wont fit anyway, so I made sure it was flowed correctly after I had modified the Tee so it would fit (it needed about 3/16" taken off the check valve side, and retap 1/4 NPT). The check valve contains a plastic check and looks to be poorly made. I...

    '61 348 3x2BC Vacuum Secondaries Tank

We used the ShowCars Part #3219B, had to modify it to fit, the tee clashes with the back carburetor. The check valve looked restrictive, but tested ok. Fitted it, no secondaries. Removed it and there is no check valve function. So I've reverted to the AC type check valve we tested with on the...

    '61 348 3x2BC Vacuum Secondaries Tank

pvs409 (Paul) was good enough to supply a vacuum tank which I attempted to fit today. To get it behind the LH hood hinge it appears that the hinge will need to be removed temporarily. The Assembly Manual in the Brake Section has a page that shows the bolting dimension, which references from an...

    '61 348 3x2BC Vacuum Secondaries Tank

From my observations on the chassis dyno, there is no way the secondaries (front & rear carbs) would open with only a check valve when we tested, obviously the volume of the vacuum tank has a lot to do with it because once a vacuum tank was connected, no problem. Snapped shut as well when the...

    Earthquake in New Zealand

Yes, we're OK. It was the longest earthquake I have experienced in my 68 yrs, 3 mins. We didn't have any damage, but it was really shaking us, even 250 miles away. Lucky the '61 which was on the 4 post lift, was lowered before it happened. The aftershocks are as bad as some significant quakes...

    '61 348 3x2BC Vacuum Secondaries Tank

I just got back from the chassis dyno where we tried a vacuum tank from a '57 TredleVac and a 3/8" check valve hooked up to manifold vacuum. The secondary system works with this setup, but not without it, so it looks like there is definitely a vacuum tank fitted, logically as you say between the...

    '61 348 3x2BC Vacuum Secondaries Tank

Seems like we're missing the vacuum tank for the '61. Can someone tell me where it was positioned and a pic of what it looked like? Also, how does the vacuum system work, we have the centre carb vacuum valve, correct 3x2BC carbs, etc. The vacuum hose that runs from the back of the center carb...

    Fired Up the 348 TriPower

I don't know. It was posted but not shown, at least not when I looked. How are you supposed to insert videos?

    Fired Up the 348 TriPower

It turned out to be the center carb idle needle orifices which had been fractured by needles forced in a former life. Probably used as end carb bases with idle screws forced closed. I have substituted temporarily a "D" base, which performs ok until the US supplier ships another base to me.

    Fired Up the 348 TriPower

I have fired up the '61 348 Tri Power I built for Mark & Annie's Bubbletop. It fired into life easily but had a low speed stumble which smoothed out as revs increased. It seems to be the middle carburetor at fault, if I put my hand over the carb throat when running, it smooths out, so I...

    '61 348 3x2BC Coil Location.

OK, I've been forwarded a scan from the AIM for part #3777100 which shows the coil mount and positions of the holes relative to the firewall, so I'll try that tomorrow.

    '61 348 3x2BC Coil Location.

I've seen a couple of pics of different firewall coil bracket locations, does anyone have a good picture or reference to a Assembly Manual picture to confirm exactly where and how its located?

'61 Driveshaft Yoke Rotational Alignment Problem.

I have a TH350 going behind a 348 3X2BC engine which is a long output shaft type which is 3" longer than the prreviously fitted later alloy PowerGlide. So now I need to shorten the driveshaft, so today I removed it but I noticed something strange. Normally the driveshaft universal joint yokes...
