    Dragway 42 Race Poster, copy.

Interesting that they don't show the year. I guess when it was current, the year was obvious.

    Diagnosing the 1960 cigarette lighter

The leftmost piece is just a passive handle or knob. The piece on the right simply passes through the centerpiece and the skinny stud or shaft is threaded, which screws into the handle on the left. The part they sell to repair it is not just the coil, it includes both pieces to the right already...

That's what I wanted to save, that brown/maroon bakelite part. It looks like the repops just have black plastic there. I just grabbed the upper handle, and the base chrome piece, and twisted - and they unscrewed.

You can take the Rochester style significantly apart. I have found that I can buy just the element, so that's what I'm going to do.

    Diagnosing the 1960 cigarette lighter

Thanks for these responses, gentleman. Very helpful, I suspected there might have been a coil required in there, but now I know. So I'll probably end up going with the classic industries repop. @bobs409 Thanks for that research effort! As you probably noticed, the alternate style you prefer...

    Diagnosing the 1960 cigarette lighter

OK, So maybe this isn't the most thrilling title or topic you have ever seen! Haha! Trying to restore this 1960 Biscayne to total stock condition. The original cigarette lighter looks pretty, but it does not work. I'm trying to figure out if I have a problem in the base, or in the lighter...

    Installing Vent & Door windows

Sure, you would not be able to do anything until that was out of the way. I've done all the obvious and easy things, what I'm really worried about is reassembly.

    Installing Vent & Door windows

I believe the answer is "No." There was a 1958 Shop Manual which is extensive - and then they did a 1959 "Supplement" and then a 1960 Supplement. (The Supplements only address things which changed from the prior year.) But these Shop Manuals included everything about the body, which later on...

    Installing Vent & Door windows

I know many other people HAVE to have had these same problems... I have been restoring cars a long time, and this is always a problem area. This time, it's a 1960 2 door post Biscayne, probably my last restoration..... I have two of them, and have taken the windows out of the doors. Now I'm...
