Does the cast iron T thread into the filter or the carburetor? Do I need a nipple like this https://show-cars.com/product/3285 to finish ths connection?
Judging by that pic I would say yes. I think I would look for more "vintage" pics and make a judgment call from there.
Don't know if you have the "factory" 1/8" iron street tee like original. They can be elusive and $$$. 50 years or so ago they were probably at every hardware store, now all you can find is brass. You can find 1/4" & up, but 1/8" seems to be nonexistent.

I've got the cast iron T. The first picture is of my parts. I've been searching for a vintage picture of a 63 425 engine for a while. Even a picture of an unrestored engine would be great.
I found mine a few years ago but it wasn't on a dual-quad 409. It was on a 1962 235! Yep! It was the fitting used for the oil pressure switch and line to the filter canister. Just a little tid bit for your next junk yard search!
