Fender Flags

Good Morning,
I have a question about Fender Flags we have a 1963 Impala we are restoring and I want to know which Fender Flags are correct. We know that the Impala was a 327 three-speed on the tree car and it could have come with either 283 or the 327 but we know it was the 327 due to the fuel line layout. i just want to make sure the Flags are correct
Thanks
Chris

All factory 327 cars came with fender flags with a V under the flags mounted to the fender on Impala’s between the door and the wheel well opening. Factory 283 cars used the same mounting holes in the fenders as the 327 flags - 283 emblems had only a V emblem without flags.

1963 Chevys with a factory 6 cylinder were the only year from 1961 to 1964 to have a I-6 emblem on the fender.

Factory 6 cylinder 1961’s had a small bow tie Chevy emblem on the trunk (with no V under the emblem - no fender emblems
Factory 6 cylinder 1962 Chevy’s had no emblems on the fenders
Factory 6 cylinder 1964 Chevy’s had no emblems on the fenders

I made a list of 1955 to 1964 Chevrolet factory emblems that GM installed on cars with factory 6 cylinder engines, 283 engines, 327 engines and 409 engines - I need to finish my list on post it on the forum.

With other year cars that came with factory 6 cylinder engines complete restorations many times they don’t change to the correct V-8 emblems on fenders, hoods and trunks.

Yes that is the correct set for 62 & 63 327 & 409 cars.
some reproduction flags that look like that have mounting posts that are too thick & flags that are thicker and the posts will not fit in the factory drilled fender holes.
Paul
The thin flags were part #3792000 and were original on 62 Corvettes and 62-64 pass cars. For 63 the Corvette flags changed to #3827158 and were thicker. Sometime in 65 they were changed to #3872930 on Corvettes (and for service parts) and had a color change on the flag from orange to red. For 66 Corvette they were changed to #3872929 with another color change to more of a maroon color on the flag.
