1965 Impala: Correct Paint Color for Front Valance??

I have seen the front lower valance panels painted body color and some chromed, and from what I understand they came from the factory with some shade of silver or light gray (I think). Can someone set me straight on this? If silver/gray and is there a known paint code to use that would be a correct match for a '65?

Thanks,
Daran

I think it was also low luster, much like a rally wheel paint job. What do you guys remember?

It was argent unpolished lacquer GM used it for years on all kinds of stuff. My 58 has it and my 60 gmc truck has it on the whole interior. and my 99 suburban has it on the steel wheels.

Yes. I have had good luck with it. Last year I used it on some old school aluminum slot wheels that were pitted filled the pits with bondo primed and painted with the pewter they turned out great. they have survived a year on a 4x4. Bc
