Sunday Racing results!

The ladder and lane choice were determined by reaction time during Sunday’s time trial runs. Bye runs were given to the winning racer with the best reaction time in the previous round.

Old Fools race

We had four actual competitors including Jody Anderson’s son, Quinn, running a 64 Police car.

The announcer was actually embarrassed to say “Old Fools” race even though Allan told her it was a name they had chosen themselves and used for years. LOL I think the term she used was “Old Guys” race. Hell! With a couple of real obvious exceptions we’re all “Old Guys”.

Round 1

Lonnie Hall in his red 62 SS against Bill Nuttel in Miss Bela 62 Belair.
Lonnie ran a 13.552 at 97.27 mph on a 13.20 dial to Bill’s 17.040 at 87.15 mph on a 16.30 dial. Lonnie moved up.

Mike Bell in his 58 Biscayne vs. Quinn Anderson’s 64 Belair
Mike ran a 15.557 at 86.81 mph on a 14.50 dial to Quinn’s 19.930 at 72.45 mph on a 17.00 dial. Mike moved up.

Round 2 & Final

Lonnie vs. Mike Bell
Lonnie ran a 13.882 at 93.49 mph on a 13.20 dial to mike’s 15.288 at 92.77 mph on a 14.50 dial.

Lonnie take’s home the “Old Fool” trophy!

Hot Rod 2

Round 1

Steve Morgan in his 62 Impala against Brian Lambert in his 62 Impala SS.
Steve ran a 11.619 at 106.39 mph on a 11.49 dial to Brian’s 13.028 at 110.28 mph on a 12.20 dial. Steve moved up.

Joel Schneeweis in his 62 Belair vs. Barry Taylor in the Taylor Russel 62 Belair
Joel ran a 12.032 at 110.59 mph on a 11.99 dial to Barry’s 11.399 at 105.79 mph on a 11.55 dial. Joel moved up.

Bryan Fugate in his 63 Impalla SS vs. James Schrader in his 62 Belair
Bryan ran an 11.679 at 114.86 mph on a 11.67 dial to James’ 15.774 at 86.49 mph on a 116.40 dial. Bryan moved up. Don’t mess with Brian, .009 over his dial!

Shan Dalley in his 62 Biscayne vs. Ron Brinkman in his 64 Impala SS
Shan ran a 12.578 at 108.24 mph on a 12.52 dial to Ron’s 14.074 at 97.04 mph on a 14.14 dial. Shan moved up.

Paul Carbaugh in his 62 Impala SS vs. Pat Aultom in his 65 Impala
Paul ran a 12.498 at 107.41 mph on a 12.42 dial to Pat’s red light 14.674 at 94.14 mph on a 114.5 dial. Paul moved up.

Joel ran a 13.549 at 72.21 mph on a 11.99 dial to Paul’s red light 12.456 at 109.56 mph on a 12.45 dial. Joel moved up.

Bryan Fugate vs. Shan Dalley – I’m not sure about the paperwork on this one.
Bryan ran a 12.052 at 109.56 mph on a 11.67 dial to Shan’ 12.945 at 107.39 mph on a 112.52 dial. Bryan moved up.

Steve got the bye this round due to a .010 reaction time in round one and ran an 11.447 on a 11.45 dial at 114. Mph. Steve moved up

Round 3 I don’t know if the track left this round out of the paperwork or Steve was a no show. Joel and Bryan went to the finals.
Update: Bryan ran an 11.648 on a 11.66 dial at 115.53 mph to Steves 11.378 on a 11.43 dial at 114.99. Joel must have gotten the bye.

Thanks everyone. However I did not get a bye. Don't know what happened to Steve. In round 3 I ran Lonnie & he had trouble on the start line so I went on to win.
I also want to thank Jack Gibbs for providing the event money. I should also mention that the engine in my car is a Jack Gibbs built engine, thanks again Jack.:)

Good for Jack Gibbs with his donations. The engine he built me 4 years ago has been awesome and had enough power to take out my 1st gear my first race Saturday night. I've been beating on it for 4 years now. Maybe I should have stayed out of the Gamblers Race Friday night and saved the car for Saturday and Sunday? Beat it like a rented mule....:flag:flag:flagDang posi was not working right all the time either...but it sure worked on the launch Saturday......time for a locker......:clap:clap

I was a witness to that 1st gear breakage Saturday night. I hate that when that happens...

For a guy that for the first time, started (thanks to Allen George), and drove his first 409 (literally) ever, one should be so lucky to be able to do that with such a great bunch of 348-409 er's. Truly a fantastic experience that set the hook real deep. Thank you Phil Reed, the sponsors, and everyone that helped make this event truly one to remember. The only problem you nuts created is now I have to build a car to do the 1320 :rub...........so when is the next one ?:happy

Thanks for the race results. We left early as we all had to work Monday and had a 10 hour drive in front of us. Bryan and I got to visit a little before the races, and then we got to race in the semi-final................. I broke out, the car ran 11.45 nearly every time until the semi-final then jumped up to an 11.37............. how did that happen, but it was a lot of fun. Congrats to Bryan and all the other winners and participants. And a special thanks to RONNIE RUSSELL.

I want to thank Jack for his participation as well!!!! I've mentioned it in this thread early on and also on the Sponsors page on the Convention website..........when I posted that we were going to have this event.....Jack was my very first phone call the very next day asking..."What can I do to help?" I really appreciated that Jack. Because of Jack's racing experience and engine building......we talked about the payouts for the racers. He said "I can do that!!" Fits him perfectly.
So Thanks again Jack......my hat's off to you!!!!!!

Well said Phil,
Thanks Jack, if it wasn't for people like yourself events like this would be non existent.
When organizing an event it is so much of a help and a morale boost to have some on put their hand up.
