I test drove a '65 Bel air with a 283 power glide combo......this thing moved like Bill Jenkins L79 Chevy II! Okay a little exaggerating here, though it would thump my 9C1 350 powered caprice. The owner's dad bought it in 1968 and the dealer installed a 1967 283 220 HP 4 barrel from a wrecked Chevelle sedan and installed it the Bel Air, I didn't know the 220 HP was still offered in 1967. No mods that I could see, just a greasy grimey 283 that flat out flew. I bought it for a parts car for my '65 SS and just may use this drivetrain after I freshen it up in the '65 SS.
