327 Hei Dist Plug Gap .35or.045

HI I HAVE A 327 HEI DIST I PULLED A PLUG TODAY FOUND IT FOULED :dunno :dunno i know i have a problem with valve cover with no baffle in it which iam working now but the gap could also be a problem i want to thank ever one for input before we get started and a merry christmas and a happy new year i have learn a lot on this site

Hey Gabe

.035 was the gap used with the old point dist

Use .045 with an HEI....some HEI's used .060...but .045 is a good start.

Of course there could be many reasons why your plugs are fouling.........:rolleyes:

What range are you using, if cold or normal, maybe step up one range.

Is the carb idling clean (not dumping too much fuel in)?
Does the engine breathe OK......check the air filter.....:doh

Is the fouling from oil or gas?.....:dunno

These are just a few reasons............good luck

BJBURNOUT thanks for input plugs are fouling from gas already rejetted carb down and a little oil but i belive the oil is being suck thru the pvc on valve cover no baffle in it and useing on back of carb for vaccum but i should have that resolved soon

I gap mine at .045 with an MSD mech dist. and a 6AL box. Seems to like between .045 and .050
