348 in a 1957 Chevy pickup

I currently have a 283 in my 1957 Chevy pickup using an aftermarket engine mount (under the engine tubular type). Does anyone know if the 348 would bolt up to to that mount, or do I need to find another mount. I believe, the 1957 mounting is similar to what a 1958 or 1959 would be, since they are the same series truck.

I put a 348 in a 57 1/2 4x4 years ago. Originally a 6 banger. Do you have the original steering sector? The left exhaust manifold hit the steering sector. I kept grinding on it so it would clear. Finally ground too much and went through. I ended up welding a patch on the inside of the hole. Should have built headers.

Ron/Bob:
Mine is also a NAPCO truck that was originally a 235, then a 261 and now the 283. Thanks for the heads up on the steering issue. I would have saved a lot of trouble by going to the 348 first, but I'm learning as I go.

Since the 57 bell housing had side mounts, I used 265 front mounts on the 348. It has been a lot of years, but I think I used a 3/8 bolt style mount kinda like the 235 had with rubber cushions, from the cross member up to the L shaped engine mounts. I did that in the mid 60's and don't remember very good any more.:scratch:dunno

Saw this one Jalopy Journal, looks like the from the World's Fair (in 1965). Probably a lot of 409s!!
