Well.... went by the engine shop yesterday and quickly
snapped a few photos.
Project is moving along....albeit slowly.

Crank finally came in from Callies, Diamond pistons and
Compstar rods.

Got a pic of Dave's timing chain cover........well worth the
wait and cost!

Also.....a pic of the car I'm attempting to install it in.

The guys were showing me where they had to do
some 'massaging' inside the block to get clearance.

Wasn't a whole lot but still took time.

Right now they're doing the mock up of the rotating
assembly to check for piston clearance and determine
push rod length.

Can't tell straight front axle or stock suspension.

Well my machine shop took off this whole week so I don't know what spot they are in on mine! Hoping I would have it to start finishing assembly.

Just got my valve springs back from being cryoed and will take them to the coater next week.

monk, I went to the list of members that are coming to the 2010 409 shootout at Thompson and didn't see your name. Can you attend? I would love to see that 55 up close, better yet, see it going down the track!

Yeah Dave it is.....we're using Tom K's headers but they turned out to be 1 3/4.....given all the work and effort put into the motor engine guy wants to
do the full pull on a larger set.
We're fortunate to have Tom's headers to fire it up.......big kudos
to Tom.
Been talking with Jerod Jardine.

Great progress!

Monk, she's coming along just fine! Can't wait to come down and be the official photographer for the dyno pull. Did you get the 20 minutes in? Tell us what you used for lubrication, and if you used an additive. I forgot the top end, is this a roller cam?

I thought those headers might be a bit restrictive, but at least they helped move the project along. Maybe we should have tried the boat headers :).

Cheers!

Tom
I'm afraid if we used the boat headers I would've had to put
the motor in a cigar boat...:D

Big kudos for helping us out to get where we are.

For those of you who don't know.......Tom's probably the only
guy I know that has a full blown 409 on an engine stand
in his office.........
Makes a great coffee table.........

Be interesting to dyno it with the smaller and larger headers to see the difference.

What aluminum pulleys are those? Some SERIOUS carb spacers too!
