I met up with the garbageman at the Mission Raceway this morning. We almost had enough 409 cars to start our own show. Here's some pictures & I'll let Paul giv you the rundown when he gets home.

I'm away for the rest of the weekend.
Dave

Man.......just look at some of those tow rigs! What happened to the standard Chevy/Ford pick-up truck with an open trailer. These day it seems like even the 11/12 second cars have a giant RV with a a 38 ft trailer!

Hello to all. What a great weekend in Mission, BC. It was a pleasure meeting Dave (Petepedlar) and his '61. You're a great guy, Dave.

We also met Will and his '62 409 BelAir (the green car in Dave's photos). Will has done a lot of trick stuff to his car to get it running in the high 10's including building a dual 4 aluminum intake that is beautiful to behold. I told Will to stop lurking and join the website.

Mission Raceway is a real nice facility and the Langley Loafers put on a fantastic event. No one in our group took home any trophys or cash but we'll be back to challenge them again.

Photos that Dave posted.
1. Our pit area
2. Dave Owes' flamed '63 Impala SS, 350 powered, runs around 13 flat.
3. Steve Gregory's beautiful '62 Impala SS, 409 powered, runs mid 11's.
4. My '62 Impala SS, 409 powered, 4spd, runs 12.40's
5. Will's '62 BelAir, stroked 409 powered, 4spd, runs high 10's
6. Will's motor
7. Al Stringham's '62 BelAir, 502 boat motor powered, runs high 11's
8. Unknown black '62 409 powered, in the car show
9. Unknown elcy.
10. Me rolling up to the starting line.
11. At Line
12. Dave at the line
13 Al at the line
14 Steve and Will at the line.

All Dave's photos were from Saturday which was just practice runs. Al's car picked up a motor vibration on Sat. so he trailered it the rest of the weekend. On Sunday (we were all in the same class) Steve and Will went out in the first rounds. I red light in the 3rd round and Dave got beat by .004 in the 4th round. Our class had 7 rounds to it.

A great time was had by all.

That's a start!!!!!!!!! Plan the same weekend next year and before you know it............you will be worrying about having name tags and printing t-shirts!!!!!!!!!

I believe the Will you are talking about is Will Zoric???? If so, tell him Hi for me. I met Will many years ago in Los Angeles at Tom Jacobson's house. And I think he was at Bakersfield Hot Rod Reunion 3 years ago. Great bunch of Canadian racers......eh!!!!!!

Phil, I think you are correct about Will, I just never caught his last name. He did tell us about going to the Hot Rod Reunion and running his car in the exibition class. We have a couple of them convinced they need to come to our Woodburn track next June for the Oldies But Goodies race so maybe we can get something going there too, eh.
