409 IRRIGATION IN SHELBY NEBRASKA 1964 STYLE

This is one of two 409 422 x high compression blocks that I found. This one is stuck, hopefully the water didn't break through into water jacket . This one sat outside for sometime . I will find out in the near future.

quik9r, Ensign, propane carb and regulator i believe .They had murphy 117 kill switch between gauges and coil in case water temp got too hot or if oil pressure got too low it would kill power to coil thus saving motor from burning up!

That engine should be clean inside with little or no wear if it was run on propane only.

Oldskydog had tin cover on air cleaner but sat outside for ? number of years , stuck but don't know how bad yet. At differnt local from where i live. Maybe get some tranny fluid and acetone or Kroil on stuck piston/pistons once heads are off. The engine is inside now, funny how we protect it like it was new when it sat outside for number of years.

I am curious about the propane setup on these. Did the distributor get recurved etc. I was involved a little with changing 2 ton trucks to propane when the fuel shortage hit back in the 70s and on into the early 80s. The kit came with a recurve for the dizzy. Some weren’t prepared correctly and burned a piston.
