FYI there is a nice article in the January 2009 issue of 'HOT ROD DELUXE'
of a 434 cu. in. 348 engine build up. 521 hp. & 488 lb-ft. torque.
Mostly Edelbrock, Eagle, Isky & Ross parts. The only stock items are the
011 block, pan & front cover.

Article is titled "Prehistoric Rat" on page 72.

This magazine may be hard to find as it is published only 6 times per year.

Hope many of you can find it.

How many truck/passenger 348s were built? Maybe this is the answer until the aftermarket 409 blocks appear.

I am sure that it is the 100's of thousand 348 vs. 40,000 409's. If you look at page 20 of that magazine you will see Cowboy Bob in the black HA/GR against 2B in the silver. Don't let the picture fool you 2B is way faster. I have raced 2B 4 times and got beat 3. They are out of Wisconsin and are real nice guys. Cowboy Bob got his stolen in Tulsa along with a trailer and 4 wheeler. He got the car back but no 4 wheeler.
Back to 348 vs 409 I think that you can build a 348 to make a real terror on the street and 99% of the people who look won't know the difference.:cool:Roy
