61 impala - generator or alternator

Can go with generator or alternator. What do you recommend. Head light harnesses available are with generator or internal regulator. 348 high horse motor.

Putting an alternator on a '61 is like putting widewhites on a '62, just looks out of place but thats just my thoughts

Besides being correct as for looks, I was told the alternator works all the time and generator when at higher rpms. Is there any disadvantage with the generator which I am leaning towards.

Gen puts out very little at idle compared to alt, alternators can be purchased in 100amps and more not so for a gen, which is why I said if you're not worried about originality then a alternator is vastly superior in performance. If you're not going to add any high amp loads such as stereo etc then a gen will suffice.

I would go with the PowerGen. Looks like a generator with output and reliability of an alternator. A little
pricey but you only need 1.
