62 Impala clutch linkage

I need some advice, I changed the clutch in my Impala 409 to a new Centerforce and I'm having trouble getting the linkage right. The car had the short throwout bearing in it and the lower rod was modified, a piece welded in 12in. total. So I bought a new lower rod(10in), z -bar, clutch fork all for a 409 car, and I have both the long and short throwout bearings, but I'm kind of lost, the short T-bearing seems to leave to much play, and the long T- bearing seems to bind up. Can someone tell me which throwout bearing I'm supposed to use? I'm going to replace the pivot ball in the bellhousing also its worn, what length is that supposed to be? The one in the car is 1 1/2in. And there wasnt a clutch spring anywere shouldnt there be one on the z-bar to the frame? Thanks for any advice Mike

The short throwout bearing if for the diaphragm style pressure plate and the long bearing was used on the old style pressure plates with the three arms. Leo
