Someone please help..... I have a bad power steering vavle leak so I am trying to remove the vavle Question 1 Does the vavle stay connected to the rod? Secondly, I am going to have the steering box rebuilt since I have almost everything apart. I can not get the bracket off (bottom of box) I check the manual and it is showing some sort of pully. Can I use any kind of pully? If not where do I get this pully? How do I get the box off. I see there are 3 bolts connected to frame. but how about the shaft where does it come off?

I use a two arm puller available at most auto parts stores, just a slight taper on the splined shaft. Steering shaft can be disconnected at the rag joint on the bottom, REMOVE the single bolt completely and pry the shaft upward with a screw driver. I know noting about the valve. I switched to GM 605 box on my 62 couple of years ago.
