Does our carb have the lever extension for the over drive transmissions on it?If not you will need one.Basicly they want the cable level with enough room to have that little bit[.190] at full throttle to keep from overcenerting the throttle valve.

First pic is an edlebrock, second is a Holley. Both with the bracket at the bottom and a post for the 700R4 cable hook up. In the second pic you’ll also need the bracket to attach the housing of the cable.
good transmission guys will tell you to adjust this right with the trans pan off so you can see the cable move the plunger. There’s lots of videos to watch that show how to do it at the carb.
at the carb pull the cable out so there’s a bit of tension. And work from there. If it shifts like you can’t feel them and it’s quick it’s way too loose. Shifts are tight and pronounced and the first shift is above 20-25mph it’s too tight.
thr best cables are the manual adjust variable length ones. The auto ones were factory and don’t conform to aftermarket carbs very well unless you have the original carb and intake from 1982-1992 which had the linkage built onto the carb and the bracket on the intake.

Was trying to decipher instructions in that article correctly so as to fab my own add on bracket...the ones sold for Edelbrock throttle lever plug the lower hole with a mounting screw so a return spring cannot be installed there.

The boughten one is symetrically right. Making your own could cause issues. A return spring can go anywhere and can go forward or back. Modify how the return spring goes instead of making a 700R4 bracket. Drill a hole in the upper part of the throttle bracket if you have to
