Hey guys is there a method to get the air out of the system? I have this spot on my Tstat housing. Could I bushing it down and put a petcock there? Or would that be on the wrong side of the problem.

You could drill a 3/16"-1/4" hole in the thermostat to allow air to bleed out of the block before the t-state opens. Once the thermostat opens, the coolant circulation should work any additional air out of the block. In most cases, just running the engine purges the air out of the heater core also, on these older engines.

I drill a 1/8 inch hole in my TSTAT's and just continue too run the motor with radiator cap off, you'll see the coolant circulating and burping until you just see coolant circulating.

This method has never failed me in getting all the air pockets out and my cars run 180-185 in Florida heat.
