It's been a long 18 months since the last time at the track, but thanks to the new powerplant we're just about ready for 2015!

Still need to re-install the front end, new MSD setup, various little details, and be ready by the end of the month!

WOW!!! If it runs as good as it looks you're gonna be moving. The headers look great. Any more pictures or details on the oil pan and drag link? Is the front crossmember notched and is that a dropped drag link I see?

Thanks! Yeah the engine was lowered I believe 1 inch when the chassis was done. It was to help lower the center of gravity and also to help straighten the driveline. Because of that the frame is notched, and the drag link had to be custom made and inner tie rods modified. It's a Stef's oil pan.

Thanks for the picture and explanation. Wonder where one would get a custom made center link? I don't plan on needing one....just thinking out loud that I wouldn't know where/how to get one.

Your cars a back half ????? Did you install all new floor pans or modify ????? Any rear suspension shots to share????....looks great

This one is gonna be full of pictures from when my dad got the car back in the 90's to the chassis being done in 02-03. The full factory floor is there, up to the backseat, as the rules for NS/S required. You'll see once you get past that, there isn't much left. Hopefully this answers your questions!

The frame was cut just before the X and 2 frame rails were run back to the rear to strengthen the car, and give the roll cage something to mount to. The center X was then re-added for bracing.

A current picture underneath the center.. It does go through part of the rear floor pan foot area as you can see here and in the picture above.

My dad did not want any bars going through the dashboard, so the rollcage goes neatly right up to, and underneath it through the firewall, to the frame.

The trunk area, while completely made, still had to have the spatter paint, and the factory trunk mats.

All the factory glass, as well as most of the full interior is still present, sans the back seat.

My dad also had another requirement. The bench seat stays. That is in fact a factory bench seat, however, in order to fit between the door bars, it was actually disassembled, narrowed, then recovered. You'd never know unless you tried putting it into a different car.

The above post didn't include these.. but there was some extra fabrication to make those headers work. The initial exhaust port shows the header would go right into the upper control arm..

We purchased a set of aftermarket tubular arms to replace them with, but they didn't really seem very strong or assembled well. Back to hand fabricating! The man who did the chassis is the same one doing these control arms, and the headers, and it's all done by hand and one off pieces.

For as specialty built as it is, it's as close to resembling one rolling off the assembly line as you can be considering the circumstances.

Wow! That car looks terrific! :clap
The headers, suspension,, rollcage,,, everything looks top notch. :beer
I'll bet she's going to run some good times once you get it dialed in.

I for one would like to know a few general details about the engine and driveline etc.
Unfortunately, I don't think I can make it to the Union Grove race but I sure am hoping to see that car in person someday.

Oh it's no problem at all! It was fun going through old photo albums and remembering where the car started life.

Thanks very much! You might already have seen the car.. we were at the 2010 348-409 shootout. Actually made the HR-2 finals before the rains came. That weekend was the first time the car had ever been down the track.

The only difference from then to now is in the engine and headers and small suspension and steering components to make the headers work. It's an all aluminum Walden block, Edelbrock 690 heads, Walden intake, Holley carbs. 482 cubic inches, I believe 14 or 15 to 1 compression. It's kind of a test piece from LWA. The heads were seriously ported, the intake totally reworked, etc. It has a custom made camshaft, and we don't know the specs. We know what fuel to use, what to set the lifters at, plug gap, etc. Got the motor without headers, and haven't even heard it run. It had been ran on the dyno by them and came in just under or over 700hp. Lamar's little project goal was to make the quickest 690 headed motor he could. That's followed up by a Jericho 4 speed transmission (not the clutchless type) and a 4.88 rear end. No idea how quick it will go, but just hoping the first digit is a 9!

The best part about it, is it's still street legal. Renew the plates yearly, all the lights, turn signals, wipers, etc.. all still work. Just need to change the rear slicks to DOT treaded tires.

It's finally all ready to come back home, we'll see if we can get the rest together and running by the weekend. That's the plan!
