Alternator Fan/Pulley Finish - Advice Sought

Hi all!

The fan and pulley on my '63 Alternator #1100628 is currently painted black. I suspect this is not what came from the factory. Might I be able to get definitive advice as to what finish should be on a restored alternator?

Appreciatively,
Don

eastwood sells a cadmium paint kit, not the real deal but it looks great on renovated boosters...4 spray bombs is what it takes...

Thanks for the advice. When you say “alternator pulley and it looks yellow or gold plated”, I assume you mean zinc dichromate plated, much like power brake boosters and later master cylinder caps. Maybe?

My follow up question - are the fan AND the pulley both plated? I haven’t disassembled yet, so I’m not sure if what I have is one piece (fan and pulley together) or if I have a two piece assembly.

Thanks

I've never seen a one piece pulley/.fan combo on one of these early alternators. As far as my memory goes the fan was the same color as the alt.case.
