Anyone remember why racers put clothes pegs on the fuel line as seen on the 61 Pontiac racer?....
I remember seeing this but can't remember why.......

Vapor lock prevention was the "tale".I used to see this from time to time.A lot of this was eliminated when the factories went to the by pass systems starting in about 63.

That would be a good idea if one used metal fins
Unfortunately wood is not a good heat sink

Guess my answer was wrong !!! Maybe they soften the vibration down on fuel line so fuel is not shaken too much to cause high pressure.

Clothes pins on the fuel line is about as effective as wearing a copper bracelet for arthritis. The only difference is that the copper bracelet has a placebo effect on the mind, but the fuel line doesn't have a brain, so it has no effect at all. It is like putting an aspirin in your gas tank to eliminate knocking.
